SMS Messaging Program & Opt-In
Source OS is a barbershop management platform (source-os.net) that sends SMS text messages servicing the barbershops that use it. Source OS is the sender of record for every message — each text is branded “Source OS for [Shop Name]: …”, so the registered brand (Source OS) always leads the message and the customer’s barbershop is named inside it. This page describes exactly how a customer consents to receive those messages, what they receive, and how to stop them — provided so the messaging program can be reviewed and verified.
What customers receive
- Appointment & wait-time updates (transactional): booking confirmations, reminders, and “you’re next in line” updates tied to a visit the customer requested.
- Offers & promotions (optional, separate opt-in): occasional promotions from the specific shop — only if the customer checks the separate optional box.
How customers opt in
Consent is collected by the individual barbershop through Source OS. There are two opt-in paths. Both use the same active, unchecked-by-default consent checkbox — no message is ever sent unless the customer checks the box themselves.

The customer enters their name and mobile number to request an appointment, then checks an unchecked-by-default box that reads:
A separate, also-optional box offers promotional messages from that shop. Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions links are shown directly beneath the consent checkboxes, at the point of consent.

When a walk-in customer checks in on the shop’s Source OS tablet, they enter their mobile number and check an unchecked-by-default consent box with the same appointment/wait-time consent language and full disclosures (message frequency, “message and data rates may apply,” HELP/STOP instructions) before any message is sent. Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions links are shown on the same screen, at the point of consent.
The kiosk collects customer-care consent only (appointment and wait-time updates). No promotional opt-in is offered on the kiosk — the optional promotions checkbox appears only on the website booking form above.
Consent is never pre-selected or bundled with anything else. The customer must actively check the box, and Source OS records the opt-in before sending any message.
Message frequency & rates
- Message frequency varies — a customer typically receives messages only around a visit they requested (for example, a confirmation and a wait-time update).
- Message and data rates may apply.
- Mobile numbers are never sold or shared with third parties for their own marketing.
Opt-out & help
Customers can stop messages at any time. These keywords are handled automatically for every shop:
- Reply STOP (also CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, END, QUIT) to unsubscribe. Auto-reply:
“Source OS for [Shop Name]: You are unsubscribed and won’t receive further messages. Reply START to resubscribe, HELP for help.”
- Reply START (or YES) to resubscribe. Auto-reply:
“Source OS for [Shop Name]: You’re subscribed to appointment and wait-time updates. Msg&data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe, HELP for help.”
- Reply HELP (or INFO) for help. Auto-reply:
“Source OS for [Shop Name]: For help, contact support@source-os.net. Reply STOP to unsubscribe. Msg&data rates may apply.”
